João Adelino Faria

João Adelino Faria has long track as newsman in several newspapers, radio and television stations. Currently he anchors the primetime Portuguese newscast Telejornal at RTP1 and O Outro Lado (a current events debate televion program at RTP3), and Europa Minha (European affairs weekly program)

At SIC TV , he was international news editor, correspondent in London, anchored various information programs and news blocks and was a special correspondent on several conflicts and major international events in recent decades.

The coverage of elections in major European countries, the most important political meetings of the European Union, negotiations at the UN, and the U.S. elections are some highlights of his reports and live broadcastings. He also reported live from many international conflicts namely in the Basque Country, the former Yugoslavia, Middle East and Northern Ireland.

For five years João Adelino Faria anchored the evening newscast Edição Da Noite at SIC Notícias - the news channel for SIC TV - and the primetime newscast Jornal da Noite at SIC.

He was also the deputy director of information at Rádio Clube Português, where he hosted and produced the broadcasting of Minuto a Minuto, a 5-hour daily live show with news, interviews and political and cultural analysis.

He has received several journalism awards, including the 2000 Award for International Reporting from the Luso-American Foundation and the Casa da Imprensa Award for Best Host in Television Information.
